Marine Ecologist, UNSW Sydney and the Sydney Institute of Marine Science

Dr. Adriana Vergés, is a marine ecologist based at UNSW Sydney and the Sydney Institute of Marine Science (Australia). Her research investigates the ecological impacts of climate change in our oceans and develops hands-on restoration solutions to protect and conserve underwater forests and meadows, which are vital to carbon sequestration. Adriana’s upcoming work will bring together First Nation Gamay Rangers and researchers to foster collaboration and combine Indigenous knowledge and science to better understand our environment and develop meaningful and sustainable environmental management solutions.

Jamie Chung is well known for her roles in The Hangover 2 & 3, as well as Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, Suckerpunch, and Disney’s Oscar-award winning Big Hero 6. Most recently, Jamie can be seen in HBO’s SAG-nominated series Lovecraft Country where she has received critical acclaim for her role as Korean nurse ‘Ji-Ah’. In addition, Jamie garnered notable praise for her gripping performance in indie film Eden, which premiered at SXSW in 2012. Other credits include: The Gifted, 1985, Gotham, Casual, Believe, This Is Us, Pacific Rim Anime, Sherwood, and Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens. Jamie’s upcoming projects include Netflix’s My Dad The Bounty Hunter, Zack Snyder’s Norse Mythology, Apple TV+ comedy-drama series Mr. Corman, and Showtime’s Dexter. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay area, Jamie is based out of Los Angeles and New York City. She is also the creator of WHATTHECHUNG.com

Engage local communities in hands-on restoration of coastal habitats, promoting learning and connection with nature, enhancing stewardship and creating environmental awareness.

Bring together First Nation Gamay Rangers and scientists to foster collaboration and combine Indigenous knowledge and science to better understand our environment and develop meaningful and sustainable environmental management solutions.

Goal 3: HABITAT RESTORATION

Restoration of endangered Posidonia coastal habitats, protecting against local extinction of this ecological community and contributing to increased biodiversity, healthier marine communities, enhanced protection against erosion, and increased carbon sequestration
